AR foils attempt to smuggle contraband items in Meluri
DIMAPUR — Acting on specific intelligence, Assam Rifles conducted a successful operation on the night of August 2-3, as part of its ongoing efforts to combat illegal activities along the Indo-Myanmar border.
Acting on a tip-off, security forces launched an operation near Meluri, and recovered 192 bottles of illicit liquor, four grams of brown sugar, and three syringes, worth around INR 44,000, a defence release stated. The seized items were handed over to the Meluri Police Station for further investigation and necessary legal action.
“Assam Rifles, in coordination with civil agencies, continues its relentless efforts in countering narco-trafficking and maintaining peace and security in the region<” the release stated.

DIET Wokha hosts awareness programme in Ahthibung
DIMAPUR — A one-day community awareness programme was conducted at town hall, Ahthibung, Peren district, by the District Institute for Education and Training (DIET), Wokha, on July 31. The programme was attended by 80 community leaders drawn from churches, GBs, SMCs among others, an update stated. The co-ordinator of EBRC Ahthibung expressed gratitude to Principal of DIET Wokha, Mhonbeni Kikon, and senior lecturer, Dr. L Yanthan, for the service extended to Ahthibung block.
