KOHIMA — Nagaland, which has been experiencing spells of light to heavy rainfall in recent days, is expected to continue receiving showers until August 7, according to a India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast issued on Sunday.
As per the latest update, light to moderate rainfall is likely over the next four days across scattered parts of the state.
Locations such as Kohima and Dimapur are expected to have generally cloudy skies with light rain through August 6. The weather is predicted to remain mostly cloudy from August 7 to 9.
Landslide between Phek and Lanye
In a related development, a landslide occurred between Phek village and Lanye in Phek district on Sunday afternoon, following heavy rainfall in the area.
A district administration official informed that the Public Works Department (PWD) has been deployed to restore the affected road.
Later in the evening, it was reported that the road had been partially cleared. However, it may take additional time before it is deemed fully safe for travel.

In the latest update, officials confirmed that despite repeated clearance operations, debris is still sliding down the hillside. Full restoration may only be possible by Monday (August 4).
As a precautionary measure, travellers heading to Phek via Lanye are advised to take the alternate route through Losatephe–Losami–Phek until the affected stretch is fully cleared and declared safe.
PWD officials remain on site to monitor and carry out ongoing restoration work.
