Niuland town water supply restored


DIMAPUR — The water supply to Niuland town, which was accidentally damaged during maintenance work carried out by the PWD R&B, Dimapur division, along the Niuland-Zhadima, was restored on November 5. A DIPR report stated that the accidental damage occurred while debris was being dumped on the valley side, disrupting the town's water supply. On November 4, Niuland DC Sara S Jamir chaired a joint meeting with PHED and PWD (R&B) to address the water supply disruption. She urged the departments to restore the supply within 48 hours, citing the distress caused to the public and offices. The PHED, Rural Division, Dimapur, carried out repairs on November 5, and successfully restored the water supply in Niuland town.

 

KSC Jotsoma to host SPSS workshop


DIMAPUR — The Department of Statistics & IQAC, Kohima Science College (KSC), Jotsoma, has informed that the department will be conducting three-day national workshop on introduction to SPSS interface and data handling practice from November 10 to the 12th, sponsored by the Department of Higher Education. The event aims to provide faculty members, research scholars and students with practical exposure to SPSS software for statistical data handling and analysis, a DIPR report stated. Resource persons, Dr. Sulaxana Bharali, Dr. Karuna Gogoi, and Dr. Arnab Narayan Patowary, will cover topics related to statistics, data analysis during the workshop.


PVHSS marks 150 years of national song


DIMAPUR — Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School (PVHSS), Dimapur, celebrated 150 years of national song ‘Vande Mataram,’ a song written by Banakim Chnadra Chattopadhyay, at the school premises on Friday. An update from the school stated that the programme was marked by mass recitation of the national song. The school also celebrated Elders’ Day on the same day to commemorate the birthday of its founder secretary, Manik Bhattacharjee, a noted educationist, socio-political leader of the state.

Tetso College hosts international conference


DIMAPUR — A two-day international conference on “Rethinking India’s engagement with southeast Asia” was held at Tetso College, Dimapur, on November 6 and 7. The conference was jointly organised by the Political Science department of Tetso College and sponsored by the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), New Delhi. The resource person was Professor Chintamani Mahapatra, founder-chairman of the Kalinga Institute of Indo-Pacific Studies, who traced the deep-rooted civilisational linkages between India and southeast Asia, illustrating his analysis with references to shared cultural symbols evident in temple architecture and artistic traditions.

 

GSUK convenes general meeting


DIMAPUR — The Gorkha Students’ Union Kohima (GSUK) has been convened a general meeting on November 9 at GPPK hall at 2 pm to discuss on matters pertaining to its upcoming platinum jubilee. The union has requested all the executives, advisors of Gorkha NGOs, units of GSUK, clubs, Jatiya Sansthas, senior members and all its members to attend the meeting. It added that their valuable inputs, support and participation would be crucial for the successful planning and smooth conduct of the celebration.

 

Nuoyie Park inauguration on November 8


KOHIMA — The Chesezu-Tsiesema Krotho Generation (Nuoyie) Park will be inaugurated on November 8 at Jalieliezie, Tsiesema village, by the Chairman of the Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) and former MLA, Nuzota Swuro.

According to an update from the organisers, the Generation Park has been established to honour the legacy of Tsiesema village in Kohima, which was founded by hunters from Chesezu village under Phek district.

Citizens of both villages have been invited to take part in the event, which aims to celebrate and preserve their shared heritage.

 

Aadhaar drive in Tseminyu


DIMAPUR — The Kohima District Legal Services Authority, in collaboration with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), would organise a special Aadhaar drive for registration and update for the public on November 15 at the DC’s office in Tseminyu from 9 am to 4 pm. Any person requiring assistance for Aadhaar registration, update, correction are asked to avail the opportunity. For new enrolment of students, candidates are asked to produce ST and birth certificate, while for new enrolment of adult, they are asked to produce birth certificate, Pan card, voter ID, ST, driving licence, government ID.
