DIMAPUR — The Diphupar Lotha community celebrated its 49th Tokhü Emong festival-cum-cultural exchange programme, in collaboration with North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), at stone sculpture garden, NEZCC, on Friday.


The event was organised by Diphupar Lotha Youth Organisation (DLYO) and Diphupar Lotha Students Union (DLSU).


Addressing the occasion as guest of honour, Dr. Roland Lotha, social activist and philanthropist, lauded the organisers for hosting a vibrant programme that brought together diverse communities to showcase their traditional attires, dances, and cultural expressions.


He mentioned that such celebrations not only preserve and promote cultural heritage but also strengthen the spirit of unity amidst diversity.


Furthermore, he urged every individual to take pride in their roots and contribute positively towards the uplift and progress of their respective communities.


Cultural performances were presented by various groups, including Lotha Senthan Mungyanta cultural club, Rongmei students Diphupar, Garo cultural troupe (Samaguri), Chakhesang Zuve cultural club, Khiamniungan cultural club Diphupar, Vungi Nzanta cultural club, Ustomi union Dimapur (Sumi), and Phom Bhumnyu cultural club.

The programme began with a welcome address by Tokhui Emong convenor BE Winnerson Lotha, followed by an exhortation from Lotha community Diphupar chairman E Zubenthung Patton. A vote of thanks was given by DLYO president Shancho Kikon, and the event concluded with a benediction by Catechist R Samuel Yanthan of Infant Jesus Catholic Church.

Tokhu Emong celebration at Duncan Bosti


The Duncan Bosti Lotha fraternity celebrated Tokhü Emong with great enthusiasm at the LBCD, Duncan-Court Sector Church compound on Friday.


The programme, chaired by Penathung Kithan, vice chairman of Duncan Bosti Lotha Ekhung (DBLE), began with a prayer by Eramo Tsanthungo Patton, seeking Tokhu's blessings.


Lichio Kithan, Secretary, DBLE, delivered the welcome address, while Rev Dr. Yanbemo Lotha, Pastor, Lotha Baptist Church Dimapur, invoked God's blessing and prayed for peace, unity, and prosperity.


TL Merry, Chairman of DBLE, expressed gratitude to the residents of Duncan and the Lotha community for their support in building a peaceful and secure atmosphere.


Wojamo Yanthan, Chairman of Duncan Bosti Council, encouraged the younger generation to preserve and promote Lotha culture, tradition, and identity.


The celebration featured various presentations and performances, entertaining the festive gathering.
