DIMAPUR — Nagaland Medical Students’ Association (NMSA) has announced that it will launch a peaceful agitation on August 30 at the department of Health and Family Welfare premises in Kohima.
In a press release, the association stated that the protest is in response to the government notification issued on August 18 approving the regularisation of 280 contractual posts in the department of Health and Family Welfare through a departmental screening committee.

The NMSA alleged that the move violates established recruitment norms and constitutional provisions, while also undermining merit-based selection.
It warned that such “arbitrary” decisions risk damaging the credibility and future of public health services in the state.
Condemning the regularisation order, the association asserted that transparent and rule-bound recruitment procedures must be upheld to protect the aspirations of qualified medical and allied health candidates.
Appealing for wider support, the NMSA urged student bodies, NGOs, civil society groups, and concerned citizens to join its democratic movement.
