A PMLA Court has issued a proclamation against NSCN (K) leader Nikki Sumi in connection with a money laundering case filed by the ED.

DIMAPUR — The Special Judge (PMLA) Court in Imphal East has issued a proclamation requiring the appearance of Nikki Sumi, Lt. Gen. of NSCN (K), in connection with a money laundering case.
According to the order dated August 14 (issued for publication on Friday), the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Guwahati, had filed a complaint against Nikki under Sections 3 and 4 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.
The court stated that despite the issuance of a warrant, Sumi could not be traced and has been absconding or concealing himself to avoid arrest.

Consequently, the proclamation directed Nikki, presently shown to be residing at Naharbari village in Dimapur, Nagaland, to appear before the Special Court (PMLA) at the Cheirap Court Complex, Imphal West, on September 26, 2025, to answer the charges.
The case, registered in 2022, is linked to an Enforcement Directorate investigation Nikki has been named along with his spouse Shelly N Sumi and four others as accused in the matter.
