DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Medical Council (NMC) has decided to publish the lists of all registered allopathic medical practitioners who are serving in the government sector or practising in hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics registered under the Nagaland Health Care Establishment Authority in the state for public awareness.
According to an update from Dr. Kevilhulie Meyase, Registrar of the Nagaland Medical Council, the lists will be notified district-wise in due course of time. It stated that, subsequently, the place of posting of some government-employed doctors may differ due to the transfer of posting.
The registered medical practitioners have been directed to display qualifications which are only recognised by the Medical Council of India or National Medical Commission and are duly registered with the State Medical Council.
Proprietors of private hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics have been cautioned to employ only registered medical practitioners.

It said that advertising any speciality or additional qualifications which are not recognised by the National Medical Commission or Medical Council of India shall be construed as professional misconduct, rendering the practitioner liable for disciplinary action.
Further, organisations and hospitals inviting allopathic doctors from outside the state for consultations or medical camps are directed to get their credentials verified by the council in advance.
A total of 1,553 medical practitioners are registered with the Nagaland Medical Council to date, out of which 668 are specialists in different disciplines.
Furthermore, the State Medical Council informed that only registered medical practitioners can serve or practise modern medicine as mandated by the National Medical Commission Act 2019 and Nagaland Medical Council Act 2014.
The council reminded all serving and practising allopathic doctors that they must renew their registration every five years.
