DIMAPUR — Two martial artists from Nagaland, Kitenlo K Thono and Hinokali, have brought honour to India by winning medals at the 9th Asian Pencak Silat Championship in Ha Tinh Province, Vietnam, held from July 23 to the 31st.
According to an update from the Nagaland Pencak Silat Association, representing India for the first time from Nagaland under the Indian Pencak Silat Federation in the discipline of Pencak Silat, Thono secured the silver medal in the 90-95 kg weight category in the Tanding Event (match) after an intense final bout against Singapore.
Hinokali earned the bronze medal in the under 45 kg weight category in the Tanding Event (match) following her hard-fought semi-final match also against Singapore.

The association said that their outstanding performances have brought international recognition not only to themselves but also to the state of Nagaland, which itself is a moment of pride, and their victory has made it truly unforgettable.
It was mentioned that both athletes underwent extensive training at the Faith in Action Martial Arts Academy at Signal Basti, Dimapur, and are scheduled to arrive at Dimapur Airport on August 1 at 10:40 am, where they will be welcomed and felicitated by officials of the Nagaland Pencak Silat Association, friends, families, and supporters.
