Kitenlo K Thono and Hinokali from Nagaland will represent India at the 9th Asian Pencak Silat Championship in Vietnam this July.

DIMAPUR — Kitenlo K Thono from Ehunnu village, Tseminyu district, and Hinokali from Izheto village, VK Town, Zunheboto district, have qualified to represent India for the very first time from Nagaland in the discipline of Pencak Silat at the 9th Asian Pencak Silat Championship, to be held at Ha Tinh Province, Vietnam, from July 23 to the 31st.
According to an update, both athletes have been undergoing rigorous and intensive training at Faith in Action Martial Arts Academy for the challenging and highly competitive championship.
The Asian Championship is hosted by the Vietnam Pencak Silat Federation under the aegis of the Asian Pencak Silat Federation and the International Pencak Silat Federation.

Kitenlo and Hinokali earned this rare honour after securing gold medals in Tanding (Match) during the 13th Senior National Pencak Silat Championship held at KD Babu Stadium, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, from April 9 to the 12th, organised by the Indian Pencak Silat Federation.
It was mentioned that both athletes are products of the Nagaland Pencak Silat Association, having brought numerous laurels to the state over the years and serving as an inspiration to many young martial artists in the region.
Thono, son of Khitilo Rengma, has amassed a total of 12 medals, including nine gold, two silver, and one bronze. His achievements span prestigious events such as the Junior National Championship, North East Championship, National Games, and the Senior National Championship.
Hinokali, daughter of Asheto Jimo, till now has earned a total of 26 medals—14 gold, six silver, and six bronze. Her accolades include multiple golds at the Khelo India Women’s Pencak Silat League, North East Championships, Senior National Championships, and the Khelo India Beach Games.
The president of the Nagaland Pencak Silat Association, Khevishe Sema, along with officials of the association, extended congratulations and best wishes to Kitenlo and Hinokali.
