DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Library Association (NLA) organised a webinar on “Enhancing research visibility and use of ORCID” and held its general body meeting at Don Bosco College, Kohima, on October 25.


The webinar featured Dr. Mohit Garg, assistant librarian (SS), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, as the resource person, according to an update.


On the occasion, Dr. Garg delivered a presentation on the significance of research visibility in the academic landscape and demonstrated the various features and functionalities of the ORCID persistent identifier for authors.


He also guided participants through the registration process and explained the effective use of ORCID in strengthening scholarly identity and enhancing global research visibility.


Library professionals from various districts of Nagaland participated in the event both physically and virtually.

In his address, Neiketu Siam, president of NLA, underscored the importance of continuous professional development and highlighted that the strength of the Association lies in the active engagement and collaboration of its members.


He called for greater participation in NLA’s initiatives and activities, reaffirming the Association’s commitment to fostering a vibrant professional community dedicated to the advancement of the library and information field in Nagaland.


Alovi Zhimomi, general secretary, presented a report highlighting the various activities and initiatives undertaken by the association over the past two years, while Hengoumang Hangsing, joint secretary, presented the financial report, reflecting the association’s financial management and transparency.


Addressing the gathering, Dr. Tali Imsong, advisor to NLA, encouraged members to maintain professional engagement and contribute meaningfully toward the sustained growth of both the association and the library profession in the state.


During the session, the association elected new office bearers for the tenure 2025–2027. The new office bearers include President Lamkhomang Singson, Vice President Sangwamenla Longchari, General Secretary Megosieu Khate, Joint Secretary Chemvili Sangtam, and Treasurer Aluonuo Theünuo.


The constituted advisory board members of NLA include Dr. T Temjen, Dr. Tali Imsong, Neiketu Siam, and Alovi Zhimomi.
