DIMAPUR — Polling for the vacant seat at Ward 11 (Zhipa) under Pfutsero Town Council was successfully conducted on Tuesday, with a voter turnout of 87.09 per cent.
According to the State Election Commission (SEC), Nagaland, the election was a straight contest between two Independent candidates. The counting of votes and declaration of results will take place on October 31.
The polling was carried out peacefully without any untoward incident or law and order issue, the commission informed in a press release.

The SEC acknowledged and commended the efforts of the entire Phek district election machinery, including the Returning Officer and her team, the DC and his officers and staff, the Election Observer, SP Phek and her team in the district and in Pfutsero sub-division, polling officials, ward authorities, voters, civil society organisations and others involved in ensuring the successful and peaceful conduct of the poll.
It further appealed for continued support and cooperation from all concerned during the counting and in the days ahead.
