Nagaland leaders, organisations and Naga political groups paid tribute to NMA president Vilanuo Angela Yhome, remembering her lifelong service to peace, justice and Naga society.
DIMAPUR — Deputy Chief Ministers Y Patton and TR Zeliang, Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Speaker Sharingain Longkumer, along with several organisations and Naga political groups, have expressed grief over the demise of Naga Mothers' Association (NMA) president Vilanuo Angela Yhome, who passed away on Friday morning.
Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton said he was deeply saddened by Yhome's passing, describing her as a dedicated leader whose tireless service and commitment to the welfare of the people left a lasting impact.
Patton extended his family's heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends, colleagues and members of the NMA, praying that they find strength and comfort during this difficult time.
Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang said Yhome's unwavering dedication to public service and the welfare of society would always be remembered.
"My heartfelt condolences to her family, the Naga Mothers' Association, and all who mourn this great loss. May her noble soul rest in eternal peace," Zeliang said.
NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer said Yhome was an exemplary leader whose unwavering commitment to peace, justice and the welfare of the Naga people earned her the admiration and respect of all.
“Through her compassionate leadership and tireless service, she inspired countless lives and strengthened the voice of the Naga women in the pursuit of a just, harmonious, and progressive society,” Longkumer said.
The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) described Yhome as not only the president of the Naga Mothers' Association but also a motherly figure to all Nagas, embodying compassion, wisdom, courage and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of society.
The federation said she championed the causes of peace, justice, reconciliation and the dignity of every Naga throughout her life. It stated that her steadfast leadership and selfless service inspired generations, while her tireless efforts to nurture unity and safeguard the interests of the Naga people earned her widespread admiration and respect.
The Naga People's Front (NPF) said as the president of the NMA, Yhome dedicated her life to upholding the dignity of Naga women, promoting peace and advocating for the welfare of children and families across Nagaland.
“Her leadership, courage, and unwavering commitment to justice and social causes will be remembered for generations to come.”
The National Socialist Women’s Organisation of Nagalim (NSWON) said Yhome stood as a symbol of integrity, compassion and steadfast devotion to the rights, dignity and aspirations of the Naga people.

“Her tireless service and wise leadership notwithstanding her age, and unwavering love for her people inspired the Nagas and strengthened the collective spirit of the Naga nation,” it stated.
The Zhopra Vero-led NNC/FGN described Yhome as a godly and God-fearing woman whose life was a shining testimony of faith, humility, courage and selfless service.
The organisation said Yhome dedicated her life to the pursuit of peace, justice and reconciliation among the Naga people. As president of the Naga Mothers' Association, she faithfully upheld its slogan, "Shed No More Blood," and worked tirelessly to heal divisions, end rivalries and foster unity among the Naga people.
The NSCN/GPRN (Niki) said Yhome exemplified the true values of a mother, trailblazer and a true daughter of the soil.
The organisation stated that, beyond the public spotlight, she worked tirelessly for Naga unity and undertook several journeys through the jungles of the Burmese-occupied Naga areas to spread the message of unity and love.
It added that, irrespective of political ideology or leadership, Yhome consistently advocated for Naga unity and that her life and work would remain an inspiration for future generations.
In a condolence message, the KUDAWHI Union, Dimapur, said Yhome's exemplary leadership, compassion and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the Naga people, particularly women and society at large, had left an indelible mark.
A host of other organisations, including the NPF Central Women Wing and the Holy Cross Church Women Association (HCCWA), also conveyed condolences.
