Kohima-Jessami NH-29 Package-II records 44.42% physical progress as the highway project remains under Gauhati High Court scrutiny
KOHIMA — Package-II of the two-lane NH-29 Kohima-Jessami road has recorded 44.42% physical progress and 43.63% financial progress, according to an update submitted before the Kohima Bench of Gauhati High Court on September 9.
The progress report pertains to the 21.90-km stretch that is the subject of a public interest litigation filed by the Chakhesang Public Organisation and others.
During the hearing, Sentiyanger, counsel for the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and NHIDCL, submitted the latest physical and financial progress figures and said an updated status report would be filed before the next date of hearing.
An affidavit containing a status report was also filed on behalf of the executive director of NHIDCL. However, the document had not yet been tagged with the case record.

The court noted that a copy of the affidavit had already been supplied to the petitioners, who may file objections to it within three weeks.
Meanwhile, Ratna Infrastructure Projects Pvt. Ltd., the contractor for the project, sought three weeks to file an affidavit-in-opposition responding to the contentions raised in the PIL. The court allowed the request.
The matter has been listed for September 30.
