Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides Jamborette 2026 was inaugurated at Nerhema on the theme “Serving Community, Preserving Culture.”

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides Jamborette 2026 was inaugurated at the State Training Centre, Nerhema, Kohima district, on October 7, with Advisor for Youth Resources & Sports and President of the State Bharat Scouts and Guides, S Keoshu Yimchunger, as the special guest.
Held on the theme “Serving Community, Preserving Culture,” the jamborette brought together Scouts and Guides from across the state to promote service, friendship, cultural appreciation and leadership, a DIPR report stated.
Addressing the gathering, Keoshu said hosting jamborees and jamborettes is a traditional practice of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, providing young people an opportunity to learn, serve, share experiences, build friendships and develop new skills.
He said the programme would help participants cultivate discipline, leadership, teamwork, self-reliance, respect and a spirit of service, enabling them to become responsible citizens and contribute meaningfully to their communities and the state.
Emphasising the importance of co-curricular activities in education, Keoshu said education should not be confined to textbooks, examinations and classrooms.

While classroom learning provides knowledge, he said co-curricular activities enable students to apply that knowledge in practical situations.
He encouraged participants to make full use of the jamborette to develop skills in cooperation, communication, creativity, leadership, problem-solving and community service.
He also urged students across Nagaland to enrol in the Bharat Scouts and Guides and actively participate in its programmes.
Keoshu called upon the participants to carry the values and spirit of service beyond the jamborette and incorporate them into their daily lives.
The special guest also hoisted the flag and took the salute from parade contingents representing 10 districts—Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Kiphire, Kohima, Mokokchung, Mon, Shamator, Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto.
During the programme, the State Organising Committee was congratulated for successfully organising the jamborette.
President Scout awardees from Vidya Bhawan Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, and Chandmari Higher Secondary School, Kohima, were also felicitated. The awardees included Chotanu Natso and Nosezonu Natso.
Nagaland State Chief Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides, Chubanungla, described the jamborette as a historic occasion, noting that it was being held after a gap of 25 years since the last jamborette in 2001.
She said participants would have opportunities to showcase their skills and talents through folk songs, folk dances, quizzes, pageants, district exhibitions, district gate displays, food plazas, and friendship and traditional games.
Chubanungla said the jamborette would enable Scouts and Guides to learn from one another, appreciate the state’s diversity and build lasting friendships.
She encouraged them to become responsible citizens, compassionate leaders and dedicated servants of their communities.
