Ad hoc teachers’ hunger strike in Kohima enters second day as ANATG awaits government response on service regularisation.

KOHIMA — The indefinite hunger strike called by the All Nagaland Ad hoc Teachers' Group (ANATG), 2015 batch, entered its second day on Thursday, while the protest entered its eighth day, with the group saying no communication has been received from the government despite verbal assurances.
Thirteen male volunteers participated in the hunger strike outside the Capital Convention Centre in Kohima.
A core committee member of the group said they had been verbally informed that there would be “some communiqué from the government” and were expecting it by 5 pm. However, no such communication was received till the time of dispersal.

The member also said the group had been permitted to conduct the hunger strike only between 9 am and 4 pm.

He thanked the All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA), Kohima Village Youth Organisation and Northern Angami Youth Organisation for visiting the protest site and expressing support for their demand on Thursday. He added that ANSTA has been a major stakeholder in the matter since 2018, 2022 and during the present agitation.
The ANATG has been pressing for service regularisation and has been staging protests in Kohima.
