DIMAPUR — The Home department has informed that in accordance with Section 135B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the day of the poll for the by-election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from the 28-Koridang (ST) Assembly Constituency, which is April 9 (Thursday), has been declared a paid holiday.
According to a DIPR report, this applies to every person who is an elector in the said constituency and is employed in government, banks, financial institutions, private business establishments, industrial undertakings, or any other establishment, including daily wage or casual workers, to enable all such persons to exercise their franchise.
The provision will include all those electors in the constituency who may be working on a shift basis in any establishment or shop.
