Nagaland's Health Department will discontinue the General Nurse and Midwife course, upgrading nursing schools to colleges offering B.Sc. Nursing with CUET-UG admissions.

DIMAPUR — The Directorate of Health and Family Welfare has notified for general information that, starting from the academic session 2025-26, the General Nurse and Midwife (GNM) course will no longer be conducted by the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
According to a DIPR report, this is because of the upgradation of the three schools of nursing to colleges of nursing, namely, College of Nursing, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima; College of Nursing, District Hospital, Dimapur; and College of Nursing, Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital, Mokokchung.
The new B.Sc. (Nursing) course for these colleges will commence from the academic session 2025-26. Admission will be through the Combined University Entrance Test (CUET-UG), and seats can be availed through the Directorate of Technical Education upon their notification and updates.

The total number of seats per college is as follows: Naga Hospital Authority Kohima – 20 seats; District Hospital Dimapur – 40 seats; and Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital Mokokchung – 40 seats, making a total of 100 seats.
