DIMAPUR — As a part of the Sub National Immunisation Day (SNID), the Department of Health and Family Welfare is all geared up to conduct Polio Day on October 12 in five districts of Nagaland namely Kiphire, Mon, Noklak, Phek and Tuensang.
An update from the department stated that polio drops would be administered to all eligible children from 0-5 years of age, irrespective of pervious immunisation status, to protect against polio.
It has asked the parents and caregivers to bring their children to receive the two drops of polio vaccine on October 12 from 8 am to 3 pm. It stated that post the administration of the oral polio vaccine, the child’s finger would be marked with ink for the healthcare workers to understand the coverage. Parents and caregiver are asked to note that the ink used for the fingers marking in the child is safe from any toxicity.

All the parents and caregivers are requested to avail the service and visit the polio booth for the uptake of services. They are further asked to contact healthcare workers, ASHA and AWW in their respective areas for further information.
For the upcoming Sub National Immunisation Day (SNID), it stated that the initiatives could be sustained only through multi-stakeholder approach- support from allied departments, faith-based organisations (FBO) civil society organisations (CSO), village council chairperson and members, woman leader and members of IMA, IAP, IDA, Rotary, Lions Club etc.
