- DIMAPUR — Aimed
at enhancing digital capabilities in district hospitals, the Directorate of
Health and Family Welfare, in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre
(NIC), organised a one-day training on the NextGen e-Hospital system on May 7
at NIELIT in Kohima.
- An update from the department stated that the workshop was
attended by medical superintendents, nodal officers and DEO/ LDA-CA.
- In her welcome address, Dr. Vezukholu Theyo, additional
director (IT), highlighted the importance of the next-generation hospital
application in improving hospital operations, electronic health records and
integration with national health programmes. She also emphasised that feedback
from users would play a key role in shaping the system’s success.

- In his inaugural speech, the commissioner and secretary of
Health and Family Welfare, Anoop Kinchi, spoke on healthcare system enhancement
through digital connectivity, emphasising how digital platforms could bridge
gaps in healthcare access, improve diagnosis and treatment and promote
preventive health awareness.
- The technical sessions began with a comprehensive
presentation on NextGen e-Hospital by Ravindra Kumar, head of NextGen e-Hospital
at NIC. His presentation covered the platform’s core modules, system
capabilities and implementation roadmap for district-level deployment.
- It was followed by two in-depth sessions on master data
configuration (Part I and II), conducted by the NextGen team from NIC Delhi,
where participants were trained on customising the hospital's digital
framework—covering departments, services, user roles and data security
settings.
- Post-lunch, the participants engaged in a hands-on session
facilitated by NIC Nagaland, providing them with practical experience on system
navigation, patient data entry and operational tasks within the e-Hospital
environment.
- The programme concluded with an interactive discussion and
doubt-clearing session, jointly handled by NIC Delhi and NIC Nagaland teams. It
stated that constructive feedback was shared by participants and suggestions
for a phased rollout.
- The wrap-up session was led by representatives from NIC
Nagaland and the IT section of DHFW Nagaland, outlining the next steps and follow-up
support structure.
- Report stated that the training marked a crucial step in
Nagaland’s journey toward a modern, technology-driven public health system. It
added that with continued collaboration between the state health department and
NIC, the successful rollout of the NextGen e-Hospital system is expected to
enhance service delivery, ensure better patient outcomes and lay the groundwork
for a fully digitised healthcare ecosystem in the state.
