Nagaland health department launched kilkari and mobile academy

  • DIMAPUR — The commissioner and secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Anoop Kinchi, on Friday launched Kilkari and Mobile Academy during a state review meeting with the district health authority comprising chief medical officers (CMO), medical superintendent (MS), district and state official at its directorate in Kohima.

  • In his keynote address, Kinchi urged the members to let their work be the motivating factor wherever they might be posted. Reminding that the ultimate aim was to provide healthcare service to the people, he requested them to ensure that health personnel are in their place of posting.

  • An update from the department stated that the commissioner and secretary has encouraged the members to update themselves in the field of technology as things are becoming more digitilised. He added that updating in the field of technology would make their work easy and at the same time facilitate the beneficiaries.

  • Shanpanthung Ezung, state programme consultant of ARMMAN/ MoHFW, made a presentation on Kilkari and Mobile Academy, a mobile-based voice messaging service launched by the Government of India through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It is designed to deliver timely, free and culturally appropriate audio messages to pregnant women and mothers of young children (up to one year of age), especially in rural and underserved areas.

  • It mentioned that the main goal is to increase awareness and promote positive health behaviours, thereby improving maternal and child health outcomes. It stated that Kilkari is a free, mobile-based service that delivers weekly, time-appropriate audio messages to pregnant women and mothers with children less than one year.

  • The programme is aimed at enhancing maternal and child health outcomes by leveraging mobile technology to deliver timely information and training.

  • During the review meeting, both the CMO and MS have shared key performance indicator pertaining to the different disease programme under the department, issues, concerns and challenges of their respective districts.

  • It further stated that the district and state officials deliberated on the strategies and way forward to deliver better healthcare services.
