- KOHIMA — Officials
from the Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD) inspected the ongoing
construction of the deputy commissioner’s office complex in Niuland on Friday.
- The team was joined by the deputy commissioner of Niuland,
administrative officers, engineers and contractor.
- During the visit, CAWD's assistant chief engineer (ACE),
Sungtiba Amer, who led the inspection team, observed that work progress was
slow. He stated that the construction has been delayed due to site allotment
issues and the shifting of high-tension (HT) power lines.

- Despite those challenges, Amer noted that sufficient funds
have already been allocated under the Special Assistance to States for Capital
Investment (SASCI) scheme.
- “The project has the financial backing it needs—therefore,
we expect the contractor to accelerate the pace of construction without further
delay,” he emphasised, underlining the urgency of progress on the long-awaited
complex.
- Meanwhile, the inspection team also visited the flat-type
administrative residential building, which is nearing completion. The building
is intended to house administrative officers posted in the district.
- Amer expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of the
work and urged the contractor to complete the project within the next three
months.
- It may be noted that those projects fall under the General
Administration Department’s broader infrastructure development plan for
district-level governance in Nagaland.
- CAWD team would continue to undertake district-wide
inspections to ensure transparency, accountability and timely delivery of
public infrastructure.
