Health department conducts training for peer educators and ASHAs in Chukitong village.

DIMAPUR — The Department of Health and Family Welfare conducted training for peer educators and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) under Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram at Chukitong Area Baptist Mission School in Wokha district on Saturday.
Echungbeni Tsanglao, district community mobiliser (DCM), informed that the training was aimed at a group of selected adolescents and ASHAs, who would be trained on various health topics to be later disseminated among their peers in the community. She also thanked the school administrator, Zulamo Shitiri, for his support in organising the training at the school premise.

An update from the office of the chief medical officer, Wokha, stated that resource persons namely Echungbeni, DCM; Thunchanpeni Tsopoe, block ASHA coordinator; and Renthungo, RBSK coordinator, covered topics such as anaemia, sexual and reproductive health, mental and emotional wellbeing, menstrual hygiene, nutrition, substance abuse and gender-based violence.
The resource persons also performed practical demonstration on cardiopulmonary resuscitation and care during emergency situations to the participants. Besides, group discussions were conducted and group presentations on various health topics were presented by the participants.
Echungbeni further informed that similar training would be conducted in Ralan area in the month of September.
