DIMAPUR — A groundnut festival, organised by the Ghokimi Village Council under Pughoboto sub-division, Zunheboto district, was held at Ghokimi local ground on November 12, with MLA Dr. Sukhato A Sema as the special guest.

In his address, the special guest stated that the festival is not just about a crop, but about the “story of our people,” and that it reminds them that prosperity came not only from the soil but also from the hearts that honour God and stand with faith, unity, and abundance.

Dr. Sukhato also encouraged the general public to connect with government schemes that support small-scale food processing, storage, and marketing, and to form cooperative societies or farmers’ groups to collect, process, package, and brand groundnuts.

Yithachu Thur, EAC Pughoboto, in his short speech, acknowledged the groundnut farmers of Ghokimi village for their extraordinary contribution in the field of organic farming, particularly groundnut cultivation and for promoting the sub division in the field of agriculture.

Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by KVishepu Assumi, VCC, Ghokimi village, while vote of thanks was proposed by GB Ghunakha Shohe.
