DIMAPUR — Governor of Nagaland Nand Kishore Yadav joined the Sikh community in celebrating the festival of Vaisakhi at Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Dimapur, on Tuesday.
According to an update, addressing the gathering, the governor extended his warm greetings and best wishes to the Sikh community in Nagaland and across the country.
He highlighted the spiritual, cultural, and historical significance of Vaisakhi, marking the harvest season and symbolising prosperity, gratitude, and new beginnings.
The governor also recalled the historic formation of the Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699, noting that its values of courage, equality, service, and righteousness continue to inspire humanity.

Stressing the teachings of the Sikh gurus, he underlined the importance of selfless service, compassion, discipline, and universal brotherhood. He remarked that the traditions of ‘seva’ and ‘langar’ exemplify inclusiveness and humanity, reinforcing the idea that service to mankind is service to God.
The governor further stated that Nagaland is known for its rich diversity and harmonious coexistence, and festivals like Vaisakhi strengthen bonds of unity, mutual respect, and brotherhood. He appreciated the valuable contributions of the Sikh community to the social and economic life of the state, particularly in Dimapur.
On the occasion, the governor called upon all to reaffirm their commitment to peace, harmony, and progress, drawing inspiration from the message of Vaisakhi. He prayed that the blessings of the gurus bring peace, prosperity, happiness, and good health to all and wished everyone a joyous Vaisakhi.
