KIPHIRE — A two-day national seminar on “GST Reforms – Realising the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047” began at Zisaji Presidency College, Kiphire, on Tuesday in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi.
The inaugural session took place at the college auditorium in the presence of academicians, officials, public leaders, local entrepreneurs, and students.
Dr. Phyobenthung, Principal of the college, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the significance of GST reforms in building a developed India. Dr. Purna Chandra Mishra, Vice Principal and convener, set the context of the seminar by outlining the objectives and importance of GST 2.0.

The inaugural address was delivered by Dheeraj Rastogi, Principal Commissioner, Customs, New Delhi. NMP Verma spoke on the present status of GST in India, while Bijayananda Panda of Wipro Ltd delivered the keynote address on GST and economic growth.
During the public dialogue session, two officers from the Department of Taxes participated as resource persons, contributing their practical insights on GST implementation and challenges. The session also witnessed participation from representatives of NGOs, civil societies, government departments, business communities, and students.
The seminar aims to encourage meaningful discussions and explore effective pathways for strengthening GST reforms in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
