- The committee also welcomed two tribal communities—the
Tikhirs and the indigenous Garos —into the NFHRCC fraternity.
- It was reaffirmed that the Foothills road project was
conceptualised by the NFHRCC in 2013 and, as such, they will continue to
advocate for the road with any successive popular state government in power.
- The NFHRCC, it was mentioned, aims to strengthen the hands
of the concerned department, with a mission and vision focused on transparency,
inclusivity, and quality assurance in the works.
- It was resolved that as stakeholders and a watchdog for the
people, they remain committed to the Nagaland Foothills Road Project (Trans
Nagaland Expressway) from Tizit to Khelma. Any arbitrary deviation from the
original concept and alignment of the people’s road by any quarter will be
regarded as a "betrayal" and will not be tolerated.
- Another resolution was adopted at a joint consultative
meeting held in Dimapur with the Changpang Area Committee on Foothills Road
Project (CAFHRCC) and the aggrieved villages of Bhandari and Changpang circles,
including the Sumi villages in Baghty division, Wokha District.
- It was agreed that the definition of the Foothills Road
Project’s original alignments, adopted in 2013 by the NFHRCC and NPWD, R&B,
and endorsed by the 10 tribal hohos, shall be upheld without any
preconceptions.
- The resolution also reiterated its full cooperation with the
Lotha Hoho’s resolutions and letter on the NFHR alignments, dated June 4, 2024,
to the chief engineer, NPWD, R&B, and a joint survey on minor, need-based
realignment by the concerned department, the NFHRCC, and the CAFHRCC conducted,
with the report letter dated September 11, 2024.
- It added that the aggrieved villages of Bhandari and
Changpang circles, including the Sumi villages in Baghty division, have assured
their unwavering support to the NFHRCC.
