DIMAPUR — A viral weather advisory graphic with a faulty district map has prompted the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) to issue a clarification, cautioning that the misleading visual could confuse the public on risk zones.
In a statement issued on Monday, the NSDMA said that the graphic titled ‘Nagaland Weather Advisory: March 25–29’ appears to have used official data but displays an incorrect map, resulting in a misleading depiction of affected areas.
It clarified that the district mapping and visual representation in the circulated post do not reflect its official assessment or communication.

The authority warned that the circulation of altered or unofficial weather-related information in the name of NSDMA constitutes misinformation and may create confusion regarding risk areas and public safety preparedness.
It advised the public to exercise caution and refrain from creating, sharing or forwarding unverified content. Citizens have been urged to rely only on official advisories issued through verified channels of NSDMA and the government of Nagaland.
