DIMAPUR — The Combined Technical Association Nagaland (CTAN) and the Nagaland NET/PhD Qualified Forum (NNQF) have petitioned the chief minister’s office seeking urgent requisition of 129 assistant professor and librarian posts to the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) amid the ongoing controversy over regularisation in Higher Education department.
In a press release issued on Monday, the organisations stated that the issue of regularisation of assistant professors and librarians has invited criticism regarding the legal, ethical and rational basis of the government’s recruitment policy and risks eroding public trust.
They urged the government to immediately requisition the 129 posts created during 2022–2023 to the NPSC, stating that delay would cause anxiety among qualified youth and could lead to stagnation in academic appointments across government colleges.

The organisations also sought reconsideration of the current marks weightage framework, arguing that it places disproportionate emphasis on academic records without accounting for systemic variations in marking across educational boards, universities and time periods.
They proposed a revised structure allocating 20% weightage for academic record with emphasis on research and publications, 10% for viva-voce and 70% for the written component.
They further demanded transparency in the evaluation process, noting that there is currently no provision for disclosure of marks obtained by candidates in the academic record, written examination or interview components.
The petition also called for clarity and consistency in the treatment of candidates holding postgraduate degrees in allied subjects, citing UGC regulations that allow candidates with qualifications in allied subjects to be considered for the recruitment of assistant professors.
