Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio welcomes FCRA Amendment Bill referral to JPC, praising Centre’s responsiveness and wider consultation in public interest
DIMAPUR — Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has welcomed the Lok Sabha’s motion to refer the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), appreciating the Centre’s response to concerns raised over the proposed legislation.
In a post on social media on Thursday, Rio welcomed the move and appreciated the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the government’s responsiveness to concerns raised by various stakeholders.
“I welcome the Lok Sabha motion to refer the FCRA Amendment Bill to a JPC,” Rio stated. He added that the decision to refer the Bill to the parliamentary panel would facilitate wider consultation, describing it as a step taken in the larger public interest.
