NSDMA forecasts four days of rain, thunderstorms and lightning across Nagaland, with heavier rainfall expected in parts on July 12
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has forecast light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by localised thunderstorms and lightning, across several parts of the state between July 9 and 12, with weather activity expected to intensify on the final day of the forecast period.
According to an NSDMA update, localised thunderstorms and lightning with light to moderate rainfall are likely over Kohima, Shamator, Mokokchung, Mon and Wokha districts on July 9. Light rainfall is also expected at a few places in Longleng, Noklak, Phek, Tseminyu and Tuensang districts, while the remaining districts are likely to witness no significant weather activity.
On July 10, scattered intermittent light to moderate rainfall is forecast for Shamator and Tuensang districts, while Mon is expected to receive light to moderate rainfall. Isolated light rainfall is also likely in Kohima, Longleng, Noklak, Tseminyu and Zunheboto districts.

The weather is expected to remain unsettled on July 11, with localised thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by light rainfall likely over Peren, Phek, Tseminyu, Wokha, Dimapur and Niuland districts. Light to moderate rainfall is also forecast at a few places in Kohima, Longleng, Mon and Tuensang districts.
According to the forecast, weather activity is expected to intensify on July 12. Localised thunderstorms and lightning with light to moderate rainfall are likely over Kohima, Longleng, Meluri, Mokokchung, Mon, Phek, Shamator, Wokha and Zunheboto districts. Moderate to heavy rainfall may occur at isolated places in Kiphire and Tseminyu districts, while Dimapur and Tuensang are also expected to receive light to moderate rainfall.
The NSDMA advised citizens to remain alert and keep track of official weather forecasts and advisories. It also urged the public to use the NSDMA weather website and the SAFER Nagaland app for real-time weather updates.
