Nagaland launches AI-powered Unified Digital Agriculture Ecosystem to improve farming, market access, precision agriculture and digital governance statewide

DIMAPUR — Nagaland on Tuesday took a major step towards digitising its agriculture sector with the launch of the Unified Digital Agriculture Ecosystem, an AI-driven platform aimed at improving market access, precision farming and service delivery to farmers across the state, including those in remote areas.
The platform, launched at the Directorate of Agriculture in Kohima, is expected to streamline agricultural governance, enhance transparency and equip farmers with real-time market intelligence, weather updates and digital advisory services.
A press release informed that the project was inaugurated by Advisor for Agriculture and MLA Mhathung Yanthan in the presence of senior officials of the Agriculture department.
Speaking on the occasion, Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC), Dr. Zasekuolie Chusi, described the initiative as a "game-changer" for Nagaland's agricultural sector, saying it would help eliminate traditional supply chain bottlenecks while making government services more accessible to farmers.
According to the department, the Unified Digital Agriculture Ecosystem integrates several digital technologies to improve farm productivity and decision-making.

Among its key features is an AI-powered market intelligence system that provides price forecasts and demand analytics, enabling farmers to make informed decisions on crop selection and marketing.
The platform also incorporates Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart field monitoring, with sensors and gateways supplying real-time soil and weather data to support precision farming and timely interventions.
Another feature is 'Kheti Manu', an AI-powered digital assistant that provides expert agricultural advice and technical support in local dialects, helping bridge information gaps for farmers.
The ecosystem also leverages Geographic Information System (GIS) services, an integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform for departmental management and an e-Hub connecting district agriculture offices, enabling seamless coordination across the state.
According to the department, the platform is now operational, with district-level officers already integrated into the system, marking the beginning of what it described as a new phase of digitally connected and data-driven agriculture in Nagaland.
