DIMAPUR — Nagaland has appointed Tongpang L Jamir as the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, filling a key statutory post that had remained vacant since January 2025.
According to an official notification issued by the Chief Secretary, the appointment was made by the Governor under the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, on the recommendation of the Search-cum-Selection Committee. It will take effect from the date he assumes charge of office.
The State Commissioner is responsible for monitoring the implementation of disability rights in the state and will function as the head of the State Disability Commission.
The tenure of the appointment will be for three years or until he attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
