KOHIMA — The All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers' Group (ANATG), batch of 2015, has unanimously decided to intensify its ongoing sit-in by launching a hunger strike from Tuesday, February 10.
The protestors, representing 1,166 teachers, began its agitation on February 4 demanding service regularisation.
The hunger strike will be held outside Naga Solidarity Park in Kohima. Some members have already volunteered to participate, and more are expected to join.

Core committee member Thungchanbemo Ezung said that the decision to escalate the protest was taken after the state government failed to respond positively to their demands.

“This is not a decision of the core committee alone. It is a unanimous decision of all 1,166 members of ANATG, batch 2015,” he said.
Ezung said that the group was “not invited for talks” by the Directorate of School Education, compelling them to take the drastic step of a hunger strike.

He informed that some ANATG members went to the directorate on Monday to submit a letter to the director, stating that teachers currently handling Class 10 students appearing for the upcoming HSLC examinations would be sent back to their duties.

The directorate acknowledged their ‘exercise’, he added.
Ezung warned that the teachers would be compelled to take more drastic steps if their demands continue to go unaddressed.
