KOHIMA — The ongoing protest by All Nagaland Ad hoc Teachers’ Group (ANATG), 2015 batch, entered its fourth day on Saturday at Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima.
The teachers began a sit-in on February 4, demanding regularisation of their services.
“We are gathered here in a sit-in and silent protest to show our solidarity while we await a response from the government,” said Lhovito Sheqi, a graduate teacher representing the Zunheboto unit.
He said that the group is still awaiting a response to the letter submitted to the government late on Friday, demanding immediate regularisation of services in accordance with the High Powered Committee (HPC) agreement signed between the government and ANATG in 2022.
“We are sticking to that agreement and will continue the protest until our demand is met,” he said.
Sheqi also informed that the teachers have decided to suspend the agitation on Sunday and resume the protest on Monday.
Another protesting teacher, T Tingmei Konyak, informed that one member from the Mon unit passed away on Saturday and extended solidarity and condolences to the bereaved family.
“We are unable to suspend our agitation because even after more than nine years since our suitability test, written examination and document verification, the government has still not regularised our services,” he said.

Konyak added that the length of service among the teachers ranges from 14–15 years for the junior-most to as long as 32 years for the senior-most.
The ANATG 2015 batch comprises 1,166 teachers across Nagaland who were appointed between 1994 and 2012. More than 30 teachers have passed away over the years, while some have resigned, it was informed.
