DIMAPUR — The Naga Students’ Union Bengaluru (NSUB) organised a candlelight vigil in memory of late Chinaoshang Shokwungnao of Tushar village, late Yaruingam Vashum of Kharasom village, and late Horshokmi Jamang of Chatrik Khullen at Paalanaa Bhavana, Bengaluru, on April 26. The vigil was held in the aftermath of recent violent incidents in the Ukhrul district of Manipur and adjoining areas.
According to an update, the gathering brought together close to 300 attendees. It said that the event provided a space for individuals to come together in unity, honour the lives lost, and support one another during a time of grief.
The programme commenced with an invocation by Pastor Tamalong Pongen of the Naga Christian Fellowship Bangalore (NCFB). The vigil was led by Vilhu Chalieu, President of the Angami Students’ Union Bangalore (ASUB), who guided the proceedings.

Messages of solidarity were delivered by Yuikan Shirik, founder of Neurons Designs Pvt. Ltd. and a senior member of the Tangkhul community. He spoke on the importance of Naga unity, urging all communities to stand together in mutual respect, compassion, and collective strength during times of grief and uncertainty.
Kumlanthung Murry, General Secretary of NSUB, stated, “Let this gathering send a message strong and clear that we will not be divided by fear. That we will not turn away in silence. And that we will continue to stand for truth, justice, and peace.”
The NSUB clarified that the vigil was strictly non-political in nature. It was not intended to promote any political agenda but rather to provide a respectful and inclusive space for mourning, reflection, and solidarity.
