- DIMAPUR — In another step towards a unified
resolution of the long-standing Naga political issue, Naga political groups
(NPGs), tribal hohos, and the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) convened a
two-day meeting in Pruzie (Shisha Hoho), Kohima, on May 5 and 6.
- A press release from the FNR on Wednesday stated that the
meeting, building upon previous resolutions affirming the "historical and
political rights of the Nagas, reiterated its commitment to inclusivity,
emphasising that no Naga political group or civil organisation is excluded from
the process.
- "We stand for an inclusive approach, and as
signatories, we urge all NPGs and civil organisations to join hands in moving
forward," it stated.
- The participants acknowledged the contributions of all Naga
individuals and groups working for the cause of Naga rights. “However, it
emphasised that those who remain indifferent to this collective and inclusive
call will only be excluding themselves,” it added.
- The Pruzie conclave yielded several other resolutions:
through the respective tribal hohos, every tribal church council/association
will be requested to observe May 18 (Sunday) as a day of prayer for the people
of Naga areas and for divine guidance on the impending Naga political issue;
the gathering affirmed that all Nagas must, without delay, converge on the
essential unity of the Naga political rights; and that all NPGs must unite
under the "Machan" of common belonging, ensuring no single group
imposes hegemonic rule.
- “In our 'correctness', let us not fence ourselves out. Nagas
coming together is an instrument of liberation, that is, Nagas without delay
must realise that coming together alone can free us,” it asserted.
