DIMAPUR — The Forum for Naga Reconciliation
(FNR) on Sunday clarified that the ‘common platform for resolving Indo-Naga
political issue’, slated for May 14 at Agri Expo, Chümoukedima, has neither
been organised by the forum nor has it “come to the point of consenting at this
point in time to be a part of this programme.”
In a press release issued on Sunday, the FNR stated it was
of the view that while the quest for Nagas to come together is clearly
undisputed, “a virtuous work needs the support of every Naga organisation, and
some more time is needed.”
The forum also pointed though not made public, the Naga
Political Groups (NPGs) and Naga tribal hohos have already sat nine rounds of meetings
since January 14 this year, based on the ‘historical and political rights of
the Nagas.’
“We are in the midst of a process, and we have reached a
sensitive point, which needs some more time. More meetings are on the schedule.
“FNR makes it public that all Nagas must come together, and
in this, no one is left out. However, lest we falter, let us understand each
other’s difficulties and be more patient. What we have garnered, with much
toil, must not be allowed to slip by. One core conviction is clear: Doors must
be kept open for the future,” it stated.
The forum further conveyed that the NPGs, tribal hohos and
FNR wish all to honour the ‘Covenant of Reconciliation.’
