Naga Council Dimapur urges Nagaland authorities to retain the existing electricity tariff in Dimapur, citing the hot climate, appliance dependence and higher rates compared with Assam and Delhi.
DIMAPUR — The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) Vigilance Committee has appealed to the Chief Engineer (Distribution & Revenue), Kohima, to retain the existing electricity tariff in Dimapur, citing the district’s hot and humid climatic conditions and the growing dependence on electrical appliances.
In a representation to the Chief Engineer, the committee stated that certain electrical appliances have become essential for people across all sections of society due to the prevailing climate in Dimapur.
The committee also pointed out that Nagaland’s electricity tariff is comparatively higher than that of neighbouring Assam and Delhi.
It cited rates in Delhi at INR 3 per kWh for consumption up to 200 kWh and INR 4.50 per kWh for 201–400 kWh.

In Assam, it cited INR 4.25 per kWh for consumption up to 120 kWh and INR 6.50 per kWh for 121–240 kWh.
In comparison, the committee stated that Nagaland’s tariff stands at INR 5.70 per kWh for 0–30 kWh, INR 6 per kWh for 31–100 kWh and INR 7.33 per kWh for 101–250 kWh.
The NCD Vigilance Committee urged the authorities to consider its appeal with “utmost urgency” and retain the existing tariff in Dimapur, citing the interests of the public.
