  • DIMAPUR — The Working Committee (WC) of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPG), led by its convener N Kitovi Zhimomi, expressed concern regarding the recent incident involving Mughato Chophy, Finance Kilonser, NSCN (Reformation).

  • A press statement issued by the media cell of the WC NNPG stated that the NNPG is set back by the factors that contributed to the incident between the NSCN (Khango) and NSCN (Reformation) groups, while the whole Naga nation is looking forward to an early Naga solution and marching in peace to secure the future of the younger generation.

  • The WC expressed concern regarding the steps taken by Chophy and added that it remains to be seen whether his decision to file a First Information Report (FIR) at the Diphupar Police Station against the intrusion group was driven by necessity or response.

  • The NNPG has raised questions as to how a revolutionary worker like Chophy, who is himself a kilonser, sought the intervention of the local police, which is “very much condemnable”.

  • “His strategy of dragging the level of the Naga issue from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to the level of the local police is controversial, which tarnishes the spirit of the revolutionary patriots. He has proved his ignorance as a Kilonser, so his intention as a revolutionary worker is doubtful so far, to the extent that he is likely to be an undercover agent of our adversary,” it said.

  • Noting that the identity of Chophy is a subject of public debate, it expressed that he should have pursued appropriate channels to address his grievances and that it would have been prudent for him to lodge his concerns with the chairman of the Ceasefire Supervisory Board to initiate any necessary actions.

  • Maintaining that the WC NNPG has not yet commented on the recent incident involving the NSCN (Reformation) and NSCN (Khango), it was said that the committee is yet to ascertain whether the recent action against Chophy was a reaction to his provocation.

  • It was also added that a newly floated group claiming to be the NNPG has made assertions. However, the Working Committee clarified that it does not hold any comments or opinions concerning the internal operations of any organisation at this juncture.
