Nagaland Member of Parliament S Supongmeren Jamir highlighted the importance of discipline and leadership at the NCC Festival and Alumni Meet in Kohima.

DIMAPUR — Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Nagaland S Supongmeren Jamir attended the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Festival and Alumni Meet Nagaland as the chief guest at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Kohima, on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering, Jamir highlighted the significant role of the NCC in shaping the youth by instilling discipline, leadership, and a strong sense of responsibility.
According to a DIPR report, he said that the organisation goes beyond drills and uniforms, serving as a platform that nurtures character, teamwork, and commitment among young cadets.
Stressing the importance of unity and discipline, he noted that these values are essential in building responsible citizens in a diverse country like India.
The MP also encouraged cadets to carry forward the lessons learned through NCC training into all aspects of life, stating that qualities such as courage, respect, and dedication would help them succeed in any field they choose. He also pointed out that leadership is rooted in responsibility, humility, and service, urging the youth to contribute positively to society and nation-building.
Referring to the alumni meet, Jamir noted that former cadets stand as examples of how NCC training shapes individuals into capable professionals and leaders, inspiring the younger generation. He also acknowledged the efforts of officers, instructors, and teachers for their continued dedication to mentoring cadets.
The festival was inaugurated by the chief guest and featured a series of activities, including live podcast sessions with L Lanuwabang, Director of the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), and Lichan Humtsoe, founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eté Coffee.
The event also showcased cultural performances by cadets and hosted various games and competitions.
