DIMAPUR — The All Nagaland Government Primary Teachers' Association (ANGPTA), representing over 10,000 primary teachers across the state, has issued a caution to its members against paying membership fees to unauthorised individuals.
In a statement, the association said that ANGPTA, formed in 2014 under the Department of School Education, is the largest body representing primary teachers in Nagaland and was established to safeguard their welfare and address their grievances.
It alleged that several associations, including ANGPTA, emerged after dissatisfaction with the functioning of the All Nagaland School Teachers' Association (ANSTA), which reportedly failed to address the concerns of different teacher cadres. As a result, many teachers parted ways with ANSTA more than a decade ago.

The association said it recently came to notice through electronic media that messages are being circulated under the banner of ANSTA, seeking membership fees from teachers. These messages reportedly include a bank account number and a GPay number for payment.
Clarifying its position, ANGPTA stated that ANSTA no longer represents all teacher cadres in the state and does not represent primary teachers.
In this regard, ANGPTA has cautioned all primary teachers not to make any payments to individuals who are not authorised or mandated by the association. It also warned against any form of solicitation of donations from primary teachers.
The association further stated that failure to comply with the advisory would invite strict action.
