DIMAPUR — Mount Mary College in Chümoukedima hosted the first edition of PsychWave 2025 on October 9 and 10 on the theme “Exploring minds, inspiring waves.”


An update from the college stated that the event was organised in collaboration with the District Mental Health Programme, District Hospital Dimapur and Gracious Life Foundation.


The inaugural session began with a welcome address delivered by Dr. Basant Giri, IQAC coordinator, who reminded that “the bravest thing one can do is to ask for help.” He further emphasised Mount Mary College’s core focus on the 4Cs-communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity.


The guest of honour and member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (MLA), Manpon C Konyak, spoke on the importance of mental health, recounting his own journey of recovery and resilience. He reminded everyone that small act of kindness such as a pat on the back, handshake and smile are vital gestures of encouragement and healing.

The second day began with a marathon, in collaboration with the Gracious Life Foundation, symbolising endurance, unity and the link between physical and mental well-being.


It stated that participants from various institutions, faculty members and students ran together, promoting the message of collective strength and resilience.


Highlight of day-two was panel discussion on the theme “Social stigma on mental health and building a supportive society.”


The panelists included Dr. Temsuyanger, SMO (psychiatrist) of District Mental Health Programme, Dimapur; Lisali M Humtsoe, founder and director of Gracious Life Foundation; Martha, pastor of Life Square Church, Chümoukedima; Kilentola Jamir, human skills facilitator and holistic counselor; T Anungla, senior lecturer at DIET, Dimapur; Takoyanger, chaplain-cum-student counselor at Mount Mary College; and Tsurila, Miss Grand India 3rd runner-up, entrepreneur and counseling psychologist.
