IMPUR — In a prelude to its quasquicentennial celebration marking 125 years of Christianity, the Mopungchuket Baptist Arogo (MBA) is organising a two-day free multispecialty health camp (August 29 and the 30th) aimed at serving the community and promoting well-being.

Held at Impur Christian Hospital on the first day and set to culminate in Mopungchuket village on August 30, the camp is poised to be one of Mokokchung district’s largest medical outreach efforts, offering a wide range of specialised treatments and free medical services.

The camp at Impur Christian Hospital saw an impressive turnout of 390 patients.

Initially intended for the Asetkong range, the camp was opened to all due to overwhelming demand from patients beyond the range seeking multispecialty check-ups.

Pastor Rev. Jongpong of Mopungchuket Baptist Arogo described the initiative as a gesture of gratitude to the Asetkong range and Mopungchuket village, acknowledging the historical significance of Impur Christian Hospital, established in 1912 on land donated by the village.

“This medical camp reflects our commitment to serving the community and promoting peace through Christ, the theme of our quasquicentennial celebration,” he said, highlighting the church’s mission to extend its impact beyond spiritual guidance.

Dr. N Moa Jamir, a key member of the organising team, informed the media that the camp features an impressive roster of 35 doctors from Mopungchuket village, with 17 citizen doctors and six in-law doctors participating, alongside medical professionals from within Nagaland.

The team is supported by 15 laboratory, ultrasound, TB, and X-ray technicians, as well as 60 plus nursing faculty and students from Impur Christian Hospital and Mopungchuket to ensure that a comprehensive hospital is setup to provide free medical investigations, medicines, and specialised treatments across multiple disciplines, said Dr. I. Imlitemsu Ozukum.

The health camp offers an extensive array of services, including ENT, pain medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, dental surgery, ophthalmology, physiotherapy, pathology, ultrasonography, paediatrics, surgery, AYUSH (Ayurveda and Homeopathy), optometry, community medicine, and TB screening by the District TB Programme, alongside mobile ICTC testing, said Dr. Ozukum.

The eye department has also provided free reading glasses following thorough check-ups, they added.

The organisers expect to treat over 1,200 patients across two days, providing free medicines and aid to support community health.
