DIMAPUR — A craft demonstration-cum-awareness programme (CDAP) was held at Government Higher Secondary School, Mon town, from June 18 to the 20th.

According to a DIPR report, the CDAP is a three-day workshop where students get the opportunity to learn the basics of craftsmanship from master trainers in various crafts.

Four different crafts, including artistic tribal textiles, tribal jewellery, crotcheted goods, and cane and bamboo crafts were demonstrated by four master crafts persons.

T Patoi Konyak, state awardee, encouraged the students in the crafts sector.

The programme was organised by the Ministry of Textile, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Handicrafts Service Centre, Kohima, with the help of deputy commissioner, Mon.

Arvind Kumar, Sr. Principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Mon town, in his speech, stressed on the importance of skilling oneself to add value while seeking for employment.

Rajib Chandra Roy from the Handicraft Promotion Office, DC Handicraft, outlined the schemes and benefits offered by DC Handicraft to artisans and their children.
