DIMAPUR — Mon police inaugurated Phase–II of the Aolan Project at Tizit on Saturday, marking a significant step towards strengthening surveillance and enhancing public safety across the district.
In a press release, Mon police stated that the project was implemented under the guidance of the Director General of Police (DGP), with active support of the district administration. It may be mentioned that Phase–I was earlier launched in Mon town in 2025.
The Aolan Project seeks to bring the entire district under comprehensive CCTV surveillance coverage with a view to enhancing security, strengthening law enforcement, and promoting public safety.

The term “Aolan”, derived from the Konyak dialect, translates to “Eagle”, symbolising vigilance, sharp vision, and proactive surveillance.
Under Phase–II, Tizit has been equipped with high-quality AI-enabled CCTV systems, complemented by advanced night-vision surveillance capabilities.
A dedicated control room has been established at the SDPO Office, Tizit, to enable real-time monitoring and ensure a swift response to incidents.
The surveillance network has been strategically configured to cover key inter-state entry and exit points, critical junctions, as well as major arterial and diversion routes connecting Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
This will facilitate seamless monitoring across sensitive and high-movement corridors in the Tizit–Naginimora area.
“This initiative is expected to significantly enhance district security, while also enabling effective monitoring of road safety, prevention of traffic violations, and reduction in road accidents in the Tizit and Naginimora areas.
“The project underscores the commitment of Mon police to leveraging technology for smarter policing and ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens,” the release added.
