The Mon DPDB meeting proposes 11 new urban roads and approves several district projects.

DIMAPUR — The monthly meeting of the Mon District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) for April was held at the DC’s conference hall in Mon on Thursday.
DC Mon and Vice Chairman of the DPDB, Wennyei Konyak, presided over the proceedings. According to a DIPR report, after reviewing the previous meeting minutes, the DC opened the discussion on the agenda for a 10-foot extension of the Foothill Road.
ADC Aboi MS Thangpong gave a brief overview of the topic, and after a thorough discussion, the house approved and forwarded the proposal to the higher authority.
MLA and DPDB Chairman Y Mankhao Konyak proposed 11 new roads to be included under urban roads.

The proposed roads are the construction of a district jail circular road under Zaklum Ward, the construction of a district jail road to Tenak Nalla, the construction of a road from GPS Santham to the new judicial complex, and the construction of a road from GHSS C junction to the ADC circular road.
Other proposed roads include the construction of a road from the old Edith Douglas junction to Tanlao Ward Nalla, the construction of a road from the Mission Centre gate to Longwa road in Tammong village, the construction of a road from Mon Sonari road to GPS Jahjon Ward, and the construction of a road from the ADC circular road to GPS Tompang Ward.
He also proposed the construction of an ADC approach road via the Tanlong Yanlam residence, the construction of an approach road to the Gorkha Church and old MS quarter, and the construction of a road from NH 702 to Don Bosco Higher Secondary School.
The house also discussed the proposal for the creation of a GPS at Longwa Lailo village, put forward by Advisor for Treasuries and Accounts, Art and Culture, K Konngam Konyak.
In regard to the application for the re-approval of an elementary school at Chingai Ward in Mon town, the DEO Mon was assigned to verify and brief the members at the next meeting.
The house discussed the proposal put forward by Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Village Guards, CL John, on the construction of a Public Distribution Centre store at Chen town. The house considered it necessary to strengthen storage infrastructure for ensuring efficient handling and distribution of essential commodities in the area, and the proposal was approved and forwarded to the higher authority.
The house discussed the application for the registration of Anghlam Sports and Cultural Club under the Nagaland Societies Registration Act 1860, which the board approved and forwarded.
The DC requested the Agriculture, Horticulture, and Veterinary departments to prepare PowerPoint presentations on their departmental activities in the upcoming meeting.
ADC Mon Pakon Phom reminded the house regarding the tabletop exercise scheduled for April 29 and requested the members actively participate in the event.
