Mon district celebrated its Dr. Ao Trophy 24th Inter-District Football Championship victory with a thanksgiving programme, honouring players and supporters.

DIMAPUR — A thanksgiving programme for the successful campaign of the Dr. Ao Trophy 24th Inter-District Football Championship by the Mon district men’s football team was organised by the Mon District Administration, Mon District Football Association (MDFA), and Konyak CSOs at Local Ground, Mon, on Monday.
According to a DIPR report, Deputy Commissioner Mon Wennyei Konyak said on the occasion that it was not only the players’ victory but also that of the supporters.
He thanked the players for bringing glory to the district and encouraged them to keep the spirit alive. The DC also requested them to work together and march forward for a new Mon, adding that this was the beginning of a journey towards success.
President of the Konyak Students’ Union, Temwang Konyak, while delivering the welcome address, said that what was witnessed this year was not just football but history, where the final itself would be remembered for years to come.

He stated that the day’s celebration was not about honouring a team but honouring a people and a spirit and that the victory was not an ending but a beginning of an inspiration for the youth to dream, to work hard, and to carry the name of Mon district with pride.
SP Mon, Kanchan Kumar Kandpal, said that to be a part of the celebration was a blessing for him. He congratulated and thanked the players and said that the dream would stay forever, inspiring youngsters to do better in life and always cherish the legacy given to them.
In their short speeches, the presidents of Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong and Konyak Union congratulated and encouraged the players to keep the spirit alive.
