Wennyei Konyak has regulated the sale, possession, storage and use of firecrackers, allowing only authorised sales and permitted green crackers.
DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Wennyei Konyak, has notified regulations governing the sale, possession, storage and use of firecrackers in Mon district.
According to a DIPR report, the order noted that firecrackers are brought into the district from outside and sold and used during Diwali and other festive occasions.
It stated that the use of firecrackers could cause air and noise pollution and pose risks to public safety.
The order further stated that the Supreme Court of India and the Government of Nagaland have issued directions regulating the sale and use of firecrackers.
As per the notification, only licensed or authorised persons will be permitted to possess and sell firecrackers, while temporary sale will be allowed only at locations approved by the competent authority.

Only permitted or green crackers complying with applicable standards may be sold and used.
The sale and use of prohibited, high-noise and banned crackers, including joined or series crackers, will not be permitted.
The notification also directed that firecrackers brought into Mon district must be lawfully procured and transported, with no unauthorised stock permitted.
Firecrackers are to be stored only in licensed or approved premises with adequate fire-safety measures.
Bursting of firecrackers will be permitted only during the timings prescribed by the Supreme Court and the Government of Nagaland and will not be allowed in prohibited or silence zones.
The Superintendent of Police, Mon, and other concerned authorities have been directed to conduct necessary checks and ensure strict enforcement of the order.
Any violation will invite seizure of firecrackers and appropriate action under applicable laws and rules.
The order comes into force with immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders, it stated.
