MOKOKCHUNG — The Kumlong Ward Sanitation Committee under the aegis of Kumlong Ward Yimden organised a waste management workshop –cum- launching programme of ‘Kumlong clean and green initiative: A compact developmental activity plan,’ at RTO Complex, Kumlong ward, on August 9.

The project was launched with Satemkala, councillor of Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) and Wapangnaro Pongen (MMC govt. nominee) as project partners.

Its goal is to educate residents on effective waste management practices, starting with households, through a series of upcoming activities.

As a part of this initiative, a door to door campaign will be carried out with the help of selected women volunteers from various parts of the ward. In addition, the committee also plans to roll out various plastic waste disposal strategies so as to encourage households to segregate wastes and maximize plastic waste collection.

The initiative has also partnered with NagaGenZ, a popular YouTube channel, to serve as its project ambassador.
