Dimapur — The Mokokchung District Task Force on Immunisation (DTFI) meeting was held on Friday at the deputy commissioner's conference hall under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Mokokchung, Atsungba Walling, to review preparedness for the upcoming National Immunisation Day (NID).
According to an update from the Chief Medical Officer's (CMO) Office, District Programme Officer (UIP & RCH), Dr. Limanaro, briefed members on the district's preparedness for the Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme scheduled to be held on June 28.
Presenting the district microplan, Dr. Limanaro emphasised the importance of coordinated efforts for the successful implementation of the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) programme.
She informed that children aged 0-5 years will receive polio vaccine at designated polio booths across the district on June 28.
This will be followed by house-to-house visits by health workers, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) on June 29 and the 30th to ensure no eligible child is missed. The campaign will be monitored by designated supervisors.

Dr. Limanaro disclosed that a total of 186 polio booths will be manned by health personnel and volunteers during the immunisation drive.
She also highlighted the ongoing "Stop Diarrhoea Campaign", being observed until July 31 under the slogan, "Stop Diarrhoea – Save Lives," which aims to achieve zero child deaths due to diarrhoea.
She said the objective can be achieved through increased coverage of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and zinc supplementation for children suffering from diarrhoea.
The DPO pointed out challenges such as inadequate awareness on diarrhoea management, lack of access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities, and the need for greater community participation in sanitation and waste management.
She stressed that these issues could be addressed through the support of stakeholders.
On the status of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination in the district, Dr. Limanaro urged members to encourage eligible beneficiaries to come forward and receive the vaccine.
Dr. MA Hazhar, State Medical Officer (SMO), World Health Organisation (WHO), gave a presentation on the global wild poliovirus situation from 2018 to 2026, vaccine-preventable disease (VPD) surveillance, and routine immunisation updates.
In his address, ADC Atsungba Walling called upon allied departments, stakeholders and NGOs to work in close coordination for the successful implementation of the National Immunisation Day programme.
He also stressed the importance of creating public awareness through publicity campaigns, miking and social media.
Walling further urged all members to extend full cooperation to the Department of Health & Family Welfare in ensuring the successful implementation of all national health programmes.
